Update: this trade is now official

Official: We've acquired forward Nick Ritchie and a conditional second round draft choice from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Ryan Dzingel and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin. - Arizona Coyotes

Original story:

During the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman mentioned that prior to Arizona's game against Los Angeles, defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin was made a healthy scratch and that it was something to keep an eye on.

Friedman added that one team that could be a fit is the Toronto Maple Leafs and thinks that something may be brewing between the two teams. He also brought up the possibility that Nick Ritchie, who is reportedly on the trade block, could be a fit in Arizona.

Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports has confirmed Elliotte's report and according to him, a league source has mentioned that a trade involving Lyubushkin is close, which is why he is scratched tonight. Morgan added that multiple teams are interested.

Lyubushkin is a right-shot defenceman and has averaged 18:06 time on ice in 46 games this season for the Coyotes. In those 46 games, the Moscow native has tallied nine assists, twenty-six penalty minutes and is a minus-six.
