Jesperi Kotkaniemi's tenure in Carolina is likely over after yet another underwhelming season since his off-sheet in 2021 via the Montreal Canadiens.
It hasn't been a season to remember for Jesperi Kotkaniemi. In his first 13 games the Finnish forward has 13 points, an amazing start. However the last 59 games he put up just 16 points, an extremely underwhelming statline.
Many thought that Kotkaniemi may get bought out this upcoming offseason but that does not seem to be the case and it actually looks like he may get traded with the Vancouver Canucks have interest.
The Vancouver Canucks amongst other teams can be expected to pursure the 23 year old this off-season.
Kotkaniemi was originally selected third overall in the 2018 NHL draft and was expected to become a star but at 23 years old, it does not look like that will be happening anytime soon or even at all.
He has six years left on his contract and if the Canucks were to acquire him and he were to under perform, he may wind up getting bought out early on.
