Swedish Hockey League club IK Oskarshamn announced on Friday that they've mutually agreed to terminate the contract of former Montreal Canadiens forward Dale Weise.

The 33-year-old sat out the 2020-21 season due to uncertainty around COVID-19. During the summer, he signed a one-year contract with IK Oskarshamn to return to Europe for the first time since the 2012-13 lockout season when he played in the Netherlands.

"IK Oskarshamn and I would like to thank Dale for his time with us. We both feel that we have not quite reached where we wanted to reach in terms of sport and have decided to break the contract. I appreciate the mentality and level of professionalism that Dale has contributed during his time with us and wish him the best of luck in the future," says sports director Thomas Fröberg.

In seventeen games this season with IK Oskarshamn, Weise had three points (two goals, one assist), ten penalty minutes and was a minus-seven.
