Last night, it was reported that former NHLer Vincent Lecavalier would be joining the Canadiens as an 'assistant to the general manager' with an announcement coming on Thursday.

Mario Langlois of 98.5FM radio in Quebec spoke with Lecavalier about him reportedly coming to the Canadiens, and the 41-year-old shot the rumours down.

"I stay in Florida. [... ] I'm fine here. I didn't get there in my head. [... ] I want to stop the rumours." Lecavalier said.

Regarding Wednesday's report, Lecavalier said, "That's not true."

Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, the person who first reported the news that Lecavalier would be joining the Habs, appears to still think it's going to happen.

"Vincent Lecavalier has once again denied the info I got yesterday. I'm starting to think there may not be an announcement today but I'm sure Vincent will be a member of #CH in the near future. To be continued," he Tweeted.

Lecavalier's long-time teammate with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Martin St. Louis will make his National Hockey League head coaching debut with Montreal on Thursday night. Any hopes of the duo reuniting have now been dashed.
