It's been a whirlwind of a day for the Montreal Canadiens. Earlier on Thursday they announced that Dominique Ducharme has been relieved of his duties as head coach, then just hours later they appointed Hockey Hall of Famer Martin St. Louis as the new bench boss on an interim basis.

The Canadiens are expected to sell off leading up to the deadline on Monday, March 21st. Two names to keep an eye on are Tyler Toffoli and Christian Dvorak.

During an appearance on The Jeff Marek Show, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman mentioned that a number of teams think the Calgary Flames will acquire Tyler Toffoli before the deadline.

"You know who a lot of people are thinking is going to end up in Calgary, potentially? There's a number of teams that are penciling in Tyler Toffoli w/ Calgary & it makes a ton of sense, they're looking for secondary scoring, there's the Darryl Sutter connection" Friedman said.

Toffoli, 29, has two years remaining after this season at a cap hit of $4.25 million. The Scarborough, Ontario native had a great first season with the Canadiens in 2020-21, scoring 28 goals in 52 games. Although the Canadiens are having a terrible season, Toffoli has been one of the bright spots, tallying 25 points in 34 games.

Friedman also mentioned that some teams in the Western Conference have interest trading for Christian Dvorak. Jeff Marek adding that Calgary could be a fit, especially given that Dvorak has played with Matthew Tkachuk in junior.

"One guy I am wondering about who it didn't play last night is (Christian) Dvorak...I've heard there is some traction in the West from teams who have seen him quite a bit and they're like, this isn't him, so we'll see where it goes." Friedman said.

Dvorak has had a rough first season with the Canadiens. He was acquired by them in September 2021 for a conditional first round pick in 2022 and a second round pick in 2024. Acquiring Dvorak seemed like a panic move by former general manager Marc Bergevin, who just lost Jesperi Kotkaniemi to the Carolina Hurricanes.

In 34 games this season, Dvorak has 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists), 20 penalty minutes and has a differential of -17.
