According to multiple sources including Kevin Weekes of ESPN, the Montreal Canadiens will name Hockey Hall of Famer Martin St. Louis as their next head coach in franchise history.

"I'm told my former @TBLightning teammates and @HockeyHallFame member the great @mstlouis_26 is joining the @CanadiensMTL as their new Head Coach." Weekes said.

Update: the Montreal Canadiens have now made this official. According to Elliotte Friedman, St. Louis' contract is until the end of the season and his performance will be evaluated over the summer before a new one is signed.

St. Louis, 46, was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame after an illustrious sixteen year NHL career with the Calgary Flames, Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers.

The Laval, Quebec native won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Lightning in 2004 and ten years later won the gold medal as a member of Team Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
