During Wednesday's game against Boston, Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon was hit by Bruins forward Taylor Hall. Although the hit appeared to look dirty initially, it was MacKinnon's own stick that caused him to get hurt.

MacKinnon left the game and did not return, while Hall was originally given a five-minute major and a game misconduct, but after a review it was reduced to a two-minute minor for interference.

On Friday, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar told reporters that MacKinnon has a concussion as well as a facial fracture and will miss at leas the next three games. His status for the the 2022 NHL All-Star Game is unclear at this point.

In 31 games this season, the Halifax, Nova Scotia native has 43 points (9 goals, 34 assists), 12 penalty minutes and is a plus-five.
