The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Wednesday that they've fined Los Angeles Kings forward Phillip Danault $5,000 for a dangerous trip on Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point.

The incident in question occurred near the half-way point of the second period in the neutral zone. Danault appears to kick at the back of Point's leg, causing him to fall. The pair then dropped the gloves and fought. Danault was given a two-minute minor on the play for tripping, along with a five-minute major for fighting.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety also announced on Wednesday afternoon that they've fined Montreal Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin $5,000 for a cross-checking Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin.

Drouin and Seguin were taking the faceoff against each other just outside of the Canadiens' zone with under eight minutes remaining in the third period. Seguin caught Drouin up high with a cross-check in the face, then Drouin retaliated by cross-checking Seguin in the neck area while on the ground. Upon video review, the call on the ice stood, and Drouin was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct.
