The Philadelphia Flyers season has not gone as they expected. They currently sit sixth in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 13-18-8 and are twelve points back of the Boston Bruins for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

During the off-season, the Flyers made a trio of key additions to their roster by going out and getting Rasmus Ristolainen from Buffalo, Ryan Ellis from Nashville, and Cam Atkinson from Columbus.

With the Flyers likely not going to make the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs, the their sights will be set on the March 21st trade deadline. One name to keep an eye on according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman is Rasmus Ristolainen, who is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

"Another unrestricted defender to watch is Philadelphia's Rasmus Ristolainen. There was a time this was headed in the direction of the player testing the market. We will see if it changes," Friedman said in his 32 Thoughts post on Sportsnet.

The 27-year-old Turku, Finland native has appeared in 35 games for the Flyers this season, tallying eight points (one goal, seven assists), eighteen penalty minutes, and is a minus-eleven.

If Ristolainen does end up on the trade block prior to March 21st, there won't be a shortage of teams lining up to try and acquire the 6'4" defenceman.
