On Friday, Sportsnet's Eric Engels said that the Montreal Canadiens have narrowed down their General Manager search to three candidates, two of them are Danny Briere and Mathieu Darche.

"Believe Habs GM search could be resolved in the coming days. Told it's down to three candidates, and believe Daniel Briere and Mathieu Darche are two of them. Also expect a couple of others who were interviewed to possibly land jobs with the club," Engels said in a tweet on Friday.

Now, Eric Engels is reporting that Mathieu Darche is being interviewed this week for the open General Manager role with the Anaheim Ducks.

"Mathieu Darche is scheduled for an interview later next week for the Ducks GM job," Engels tweeted on Saturday.

The Anaheim Ducks have been without a general manager since early-November when they placed Bob Murray on administrative leave following an investigation related to professional conduct. A few days after being placed on administrative leave, Murray resigned as general manager and entered an alcohol abuse program. Assistant General Manager Jeff Solomon is currently acting as the team's interim GM.

Darche, 45, is currently working with the Tampa Bay Lightning as their Director of Hockey Operations, a role he took on in May of 2019. Since he was hired, the Lightning have gone on to win back-to-back Stanley Cup.
