Not too many goaltenders anywhere have been busier than high school freshman Mara Pelland recently. Pelland is being praised for her recent effort, despite her team taking the loss. The International Falls netminder stopped 112 shots in a 13-0 loss to Hibbing-Chisholm in the high school hockey league out of Minnesota.

Hibbing-Chisholm managed 35 shots in the first period, 40 in the second and 50 in the third for a total of 125 shots. Pelland's save percentage in the game was .896. This isn't the first time Pelland has been called on to make a ton of saves this season. In 10 games so far, she has faced 623 shots, stopping 539 of them for a save percentage of .865. By the way, that's an average of 62.3 shots per game.

Pelland's International Falls Broncos aren't having the best of seasons, with a record of 0-10-0 so far. However, it's nice to see Pelland get some recognition for her incredible efforts.
