After Kirill Kaprizov was injured in Thursday's 3-2 win versus the Boston Bruins, Dean Evason explained his utter disappointment with the league.
Kaprizov was tangled up with Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk, and started falling to the ice, and then Trent Frederic came and crushed him in the numbers straight from behind into the boards. No penalty was called on the play, but many Wild players, fans, and coaches were looking for some sort of repercussion for a hit like that. The hit can be seen below:
Evason told the media that Kaprizov will not be playing on Saturday, and Evason is still not happy about the hit. He thought it was «unnecessary» and Wild coaches «do not believe that was a hockey play.»
Kaprizov will remain out with an upper-body injury for the next while at least, but the hope is that he will not be facing a serious injury. Minnesota has already been plagued with the injury bug as captain Jared Spurgeon, Joel Eriksson Ek, Jordan Greenway, Cam Talbot, and Brandon Duhaime have all recently been injured.
The Wild are back in action on Saturday versus the Washington Capitals in Minnesota at the Xcel Energy Center.
