Kraken prospect Matty Beniers among 15 invited to play for U.S.A. at the 2022 Olympics

According to Frank Seravalli and Chris Peters of Daily Faceoff, USA Hockey has extended an invitation to at least fifteen players as of today, among those on the list is Seattle Kraken prospect Matthew Beniers and Ottawa Senators prospect Jake Sanderson.

"Reporting with @chrismpeters, team and league sources tell @DailyFaceoff these 15 players have been invited to play for Team USA 🇺🇸 at #Beijing2022 Olympics. List is still fluid, not all have confirmed participation, and @USAHockey is actively adding others." Seravalli said in a tweet.

Here is the full list of invited players so far:

Forwards (8): Ken Agostino (Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod - KHL), Matty Beniers (University of Michigan - NCAA) - Seattle, Noah Cates (Universtiy of Minnesota-Duluth - NCAA) - Philadelphia, Matthew Knies (University of Minnesota - NCAA) - Toronto, Ben Meyers (University of Minnesota - NCAA), Andy Miele (Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod - KHL), Brian O'Neill (Jokerit Helsinki - KHL), Nathan Smith (Minnesota State University - NCAA) - Winnipeg.

Defencemen (6):

Brock Faber (University of Minnesota - NCAA) - Los Angeles, Drew Helleson (Boston College - NCAA) - Colorado, Steven Kampfer (AK Bars Kazan - KHL), Aaron Ness (Providence Bruins - AHL), Jake Sanderson (University of North Dakota - NCAA) - Ottawa, David Warsofsky (ERC Ingolstadt - DEL).

Goaltender (1): Strauss Mann (Skelleftea AIK - SHL).

The United States will open their Olympic tournament on Thursday, February 10th against the hosts, China at 9:10pm Beijing time/8:10am Eastern time.
