Some strange news out of the cancelled World Junior Hockey Championships that were taking place in Alberta. There are several reports that the teams representing Russia and Czechia were booted off a flight from Calgary to Frankfurt, Germany on New Year's Eve after some unruly behaviour.

Swedish Journalist Marie Lehmen, who was on the flight, confirmed these Tweets.

"Both the Czech and Russian teams have been rejected from our plane. And will not be able to go to Frankfurt," she said. "Drunkenness, smoking and refusal to wear face masks are some of the reasons."

"The Finnish team will be allowed to go."

Meanwhile, it appears Russian head coach Sergei Zubov was accused of attempting to vape on the flight while holding the device up his sleeve. According to reports, both the Russians and Czechs were removed from the flight before it ever left Calgary.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened following a World Juniors tournament. In 2011, the Russians were booted off a flight from Buffalo after winning the gold medal and partying it up the previous night.
