Wednesday night should be an interesting one for Buffalo Sabres prospect Casey Fitzgerald. The 24-year-old third round pick in 2016 has been called up to the Buffalo Sabres just in time to take on the New Jersey Devils Wednesday. His father, Tom Fitzgerald, happens to be the general manager of New Jersey.

Despite being drafted in 2016, Casey Fitzgerald has managed just one game in the NHL so far in his career. It came this season against the PIttsburgh Penguins, and his father and mother were in attendance for it. Tom Fitzgerald played close to 1100 games in the NHL with various teams, including the New York Islanders, Florida, Chicago, Colorado, Nashville, Toronto and Boston.

Casey has been a very steady force on the blue line for the Rochester Americans over the last couple of seasons, so it's a bit surprising that it's taken this long to get called up to the big league. That said, it's a safe bet this is a pretty exciting moment for him.
