It was originally thought that the Arizona Coyotes were planning a rebuild around their young core, which included defenseman Jakob Chychrun. Now, however, it appears as though the Yotes could move the young blueliner.

Per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Coyotes have begun to float Chychrun's name to GM's around the league to test the market. Friedman also stated that the asking price is sky high - and as well it should be.

Chychrun, 23, was one of the best defensemen in the NHL last season, but has struggled mightily thus far in 2021-22, likely due in part to the Coyotes having moved some of their better assets in order to help facilitate a rebuild.

In 56 games last season, Chychrun notched 18 goals and 41 points, posting career highs in both categories. The Boca Raton, Florida native has managed just 7 points in 26 games so far this season.

Friedman did not specify what the potential asking price could be, but it's likely that it starts with a player of a similar age and with a similar skill level, a 1st round pick and a quality prospect.
