After appealing his suspension four days ago, Jason Spezza will finally have his hearing with the league on Tuesday night.

For those who may have missed it, Spezza was suspended six games for catching Winnipeg Jets defenceman Neal Pionk with a knee to the head. It was an ugly hit that was made worse by the fact many believed it to be retaliatory to a hit made by Pionk on Rasmus Sandin earlier in the game. Unfortunately, this entire situation could have and should have been deescalated by officials earlier in the game, as they lost control and it resulted in some very ugly moments down the stretch.

Spezza, 38, had never been suspended through his 1203 game career prior to this incident. He has already served three games of the suspension, meaning the lowest the suspension could be dropped is to four games. If that were the case, he would be eligible to return on Saturday versus the Vancouver Canucks. Expect to hear more about this later tonight.
