Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price returned to the ice on Monday morning at the team's practice facility in Brossard, Quebec. According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, Price was on the ice for about 15 minutes prior to the start of Montreal's morning skate.

The star goaltender has been slowly working his way back to the Canadiens' lineup after having off-season knee surgery following their run to the Stanley Cup Final.

As everyone knows by now, Price entered the NHL Player Assistance Program on October 8th, and when he came out of it a month later, he told fans in a statement that he was getting help for substance abuse.

Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme shared that the team has a four-step plan with Carey Price to get him back to the lineup. The first step was working off the ice in the gym, the second step is working on the ice with goaltending coach Eric Raymond (which is Price's current state). The third step is a return to full practices, and then the final step, back between the pipes for the Montreal Canadiens.

It's still unclear when Price will return to the crease, but seeing him on the ice this morning is a positive sign for a team that has been very busy off of it in the last 24-36 hours.

If Price is able to return prior to the end of December, there's a very good chance that Doug Armstrong will name him to Team Canada's Olympic roster for the 2022 Games in Beijing. Last week, Armstrong told reporters that if Price is ready, that's his guy, likely signalling that Price would be Canada's starter as they look to bring home their third gold medal in the last five Winter Olympics.

As for the Canadiens, they returned from their three-game road trip on Sunday morning, and are back in action on Monday night against another team that's had a rough go this season, the Vancouver Canucks. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm ET on Sportsnet.
