Wednesday, the Seattle Kraken placed Nathan Bastian on waivers to make room on the active roster for the return of Mason Appleton. On Thursday, Bastian returns to the team that drafted him, the New Jersey Devils.

Bastian, 23, was selected by the Devils in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, and spent four years in the organization. In July 2021, he was left unprotected ahead of the Expansion Draft and was taken by the Seattle Kraken.

The Kitchener, Ontario native appeared in 12 games this season for the Kraken, putting up two points (one goal, one assist), 31 penalty minutes, and was a minus-one.
