According to multiple sources, Joel Quenneville is no longer head coach of the Florida Panthers following a meeting with Gary Bettman this afternoon to discuss his role in the Chicago Blackhawks sexual assault investigation.

Former NHLer and current Panthers assistant coach Andrew Brunette will take over as the interim head coach. It's unclear if the Panthers will begin a search for a new head coach at the moment or if Brunette will carry the team for the remainder of the season.

Following the announcement, Joel Quenneville released a statement.

"With deep regret and contrition, I announce my resignation as head coach of the Florida Panthers." He said.

Quenneville went on to add, "I want to express my sorrow for the pain this young man, Kyle Beach, has suffered. My former team the Blackhawks failed Kyle and I own my share of that."
