Big news coming out of the NHL Thursday night. According to Kevin Weekes with the NHL Network, TSN and ESPN, Joel Quenneville is being given the axe by the Florida Panthers, and his replacement just might be John Tortorella.

Update: Joel Quenneville has officially designed as coach in Florida. Full details in link below

"I'm hearing there's a coaching change coming shortly with the @FlaPanthers. Keep an eye on my @espn colleague John Tortorella as one of the top potential candidates," said Weekes on Twitter.

As pretty much every hockey fan is aware, Joel Quenneville was meeting with Gary Bettman, commissioner of the NHL, Thursday afternoon to discuss his role in the Chicago Blackhawks report into Kyle Beach's lawsuit. Beach said he was sexually assaulted by Brad Aldrich, a video coach with the Blackhawks while Quenneville was coaching there, and that the team did nothing, despite knowing about it.

Since Weekes first Tweeted, other reporters have said that Quenneville is definitely out in Florida, although his replacement has not yet been officially names. Tortorella would certainly make sense, though.
