The Toronto Maple Leafs were able to relieve some pressure on themselves after a bad start to the season thanks to an overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.

William Nylander, who scored the overtime marker to give his team a 3-2 win, said a change in mindset from the group was what led them to victory.

«Time to wake up,» Nylander said. «Enough feeling sorry for ourselves. Like nobody is going to get us out of this."

«We needed to up the battle.»

Nylander wasn't the only Leaf to mention an attitude change as a key to their comeback victory on Wednesday. Goaltender Jack Campbell had some similar comments postgame as well.

«I think (they) got us, quite frankly, p*ssed off,» Campbell said. «I think that's what sparked us. Love seeing the passion and love seeing guys come through on the ice with it too. And, you know, everybody was battling.»

Despite talk of their major struggles early into the season, the Leafs sit at 3-4-1 after eight games. It isn't the ideal start by any means, but this team has far too many weapons to continue on this way. Whether or not they are built for a Stanley Cup is certainly up for discussion, but they should be able to turn things around through the regular season, and last night's win may have been the start of that.
