The Chicago Blackhawks' COVID situation grew on Tuesday as two more players entered the league's protocol. Captain Jonathan Toews and forward Henrik Borgstrom become the sixth and seventh players from the Blackhawks to be placed in the NHL's COVID protocol recently.

Five players and three coaches are among those currently on the COVID list from the Blackhawks dating back to this past weekend. According to Mark Lazerus of The Athletic, those names are Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Henrik Borgstrom, Riley Stillman, Jujhar Khaira, and coaches Marc Crawford, Tomas Mitell, and Jimmy Waite.

Forward Ryan Carpenter and defenceman Erik Gustafsson were among those on the COVID list this past weekend but have since been cleared to return to practice.

The St. Louis Blues have also added some prominent names to the COVID protocol list. The team announced on Tuesday afternoon that captain Ryan O'Reilly and forward Brandon Saad have been placed in the league's protocol.

In order to return to team activities, a player must produce two consecutive negative tests. If a player tests positive and is symptomatic, they must self-isolate for a minimum of ten days, and then produce two consecutive negative tests before being eligible to return to the team.
