Former NHL goaltender Tommy Salo has been sentenced to two months in jail for drunk driving.

"The Court of Appeal upholds the district court's judgment against Tommy Salo for aggravated drunk driving. The former ice hockey goalkeeper is sentenced to two months in prison," Mattias Karlsson of Aftonbladet said.

He added, "It was in August last year that he crashed into the center railing of the E18 and blood tests showed 3.06 per mille."

Tommy Salo admitted to aggravated drunk driving, but wanted a suspended sentence along with community service time. The Court of Appeal denied Salo's request, and the original punishment of two months in jail stays in place.

The Surahammar, Sweden native played in 526 games in the NHL for the New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, and Colorado Avalanche. Salo had a record of 210-225-73, with a 2.55 G.A.A., a .905 save percentage, and 37 shutouts.
