Ottawa Senators fans are nervous, and for good reason. It is Oct. 6, and the heartbeat of their team, Brady Tkachuk, is still unsigned.

There have been mixed reports all summer about how close the two parties were. However, his brother Matthew Tkachuk apparently knew what he was talking about when weeks ago he said they were a ways apart, and hinted that his little brother may be holding out. Now, according to Sens reporter Ian Mendes, the only thing to solve this saga may be a bridge deal.

As Mendes mentions in an article published by The Athletic, most Sens fans are hesitant regarding a bridge deal due to the fact they want him locked up long term to ensure he stays in Ottawa. However, if the team doesn't improve or he just isn't happy, nothing is stopping him from wanting out regardless of how long he is signed, just ask Jack Eichel.

Tkachuk, 22, suited up for all 56 games during the 2020-21 season, and put up a team leading 36 points. While his offensive game may never quite be that of other superstars around the league, he brings many intangibles that the majority of players don't offer, and is one of the games more complete players up front. The Senators need to figure something out here, and fast.
