The Jack Eichel situation in Buffalo may finally be moving in the right direction after several weeks of stalled talks and frustration on both sides.

On Wednesday morning, TSN's Darren Dreger reported that the Sabres have provided interested parties with "additional access" to Eichel's medical file in hopes that a deal may be reached sooner rather than later.

At various points throughout the year, Eichel's name has been linked to the Rangers, Kings, Ducks, Blue Jackets and Canadiens, among a few others.

The Eichel camp has dug their heels in on an experimental artificial disc replacement surgery to repair a neck injury, rather than the more trusted disc fusion that has been widely used by clubs for years.

The main concern from the Sabres' point of view is that there are no documented cases of an NHL player having artificial disc replacement surgery and continuing their NHL career.
