Jaroslav Halak signed a one-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks as soon as free agency opened on July 28th. With a new team comes a new mask, and Halak decided once again to honour his late friend and teammate, Pavol Demitra.

Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet650 snapped a picture of the back of Halak's new mask which says "Demitra 38".

"Cool tribute by Jaroslav Halak. He has 38 Demitra on the back of his new mask to pay tribute to the former #Canucks forward and his fellow countryman," Batchelor said in a tweet on Friday.

This isn't the first time that Halak has honoured Demitra on his mask. Shortly after the plane crash that killed Demitra and the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, Halak put his friend on the back panel of his mask.

Halak and Demitra were teammates during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver where Slovakia made a shocking run to the semi-finals, before losing to Canada.
