With jersey ads on their way to the NHL starting in the 2022-23 season, one team has already announced their sponsor for the spot, as well as showing off what it will look like. The Washington Capitals have struck a deal with Caesars Entertainment to advertise Caesars Sportsbook on their jerseys starting next season.

Washington's deal with Caesars Entertainment is a multi-year one and will be featured on the team's home sweaters. A road sponsor will likely be announced at another time.

The NHL has always been hesitant about allowing jersey ads, wanting to preserve the sanctity of the hockey sweater. However, the COVID-19 pandemic meant a lot of lost revenue for all teams, and this is one way to recoup some of that. The NHL has stated there are no plans to increase the number of ads on sweaters, believing that doing so would simply decrease the value for sponsors.
