According to Rick Dhaliwal of The Athletic, the Vancouver Canucks have signed nine-year NHL veteran Alex Chiasson to a professional tryout contract.

Chiasson, 30, was selected by Dallas in the second round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He's spent parts of nine seasons in the NHL with the Stars, Senators, Flames, Capitals, and Oilers. In 564 regular season games, the Montreal, Quebec native has 202 points (101 G, 101 A), 329 penalty minutes, and is a -40.

Chiasson has to earn a contract for the 2021-22 season from Vancouver, or he would be let go at the end of training camp.
