According to Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland, goaltender Alex Stalock is not expected to play at all during the 2021-22 season due to a heart condition he is dealing with relating to COVID-19.

The St. Paul, Minnesota native tested positive for COVID-19 back in November 2020, and missed the entire 2020-21 season due to being diagnosed with Myocarditis, which is an inflammation of the heart muscle.

"Holland does not anticipate that Alex Stalock will play hockey this year due to ongoing heart condition. That could change, but that is where we're at today." Sportsnet's Mark Spector said in a tweet on Wednesday.

This is unfortunate news for Stalock, who is entering the final year of a three-year contract he signed with the Minnesota Wild back in 2019. Hopefully he'll be back on the ice as early as next season.
