Minnesota Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov remains without a contract just a week before training camp, even after negotiations have been ongoing throughout the summer.

It now appears that the team will be without him for at least the next little while. Wild GM Bill Guerin recently spoke to the media about the situation: "I'm disappointed that we don't have him signed, but we are not the only team in this situation. Training camp starts next week. And when that starts, we're gonna focus on the guys we have there. This happens all the time, but we'll just move ahead."

Guerin also mentioned that a couple other teams are in similar situations. The Vancouver Canucks are still waiting for new contracts for both Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes. The Buffalo Sabres still need to sign Rasmus Dahlin, and the Ottawa Senators still need to sign Brady Tkachuk.

Minnesota will have until December 1 to sign Kaprizov, or else he will not be able to play this season. If the team goes without him for this long, they may not even be able to find themselves in a playoff spot unless another forward steps up mightily.

The Wild and their fans hope Kaprizov signs soon, and many people agree this would be the best option for them and the game of hockey.
