The organization that oversees hockey officials in the Moscow area of Russia has handed out a harsh, yet deserved, penalty to the referee who recently showed up at a children's game drunk. Over the weekend, a video circulated online showing a referee falling several times and barely being able to stand up straight while officiating a youth league game. Check it out:

Following this, the organization (FHM) released a statement late Sunday saying it had a meeting to discuss the actions of 19-year-old Yemelyan Mayorov.

"Based on the results of the meeting, it was decided to disqualify referee Yemelyan Mayorov for life from serving all official matches held by the Moscow Hockey Federation," reads the FHM official website.

A report by Sport24.ru notes that Mayorov is a former player and that an official with the Moscow Hockey Federation told them he had been in a "fight with a girl" before coming to the rink, which was his reason for drinking. Mayorov's profile on Elite Prospects lists him as a defenceman who last played in 2020-21 in the Russia U18 league.
