Amid rumours that the whole thing had been scrapped, both RDS and TVA in Quebec will be airing one-on-one interviews with Jonathan Drouin of the Montreal Canadiens Monday night. Drouin left the team mid-way through last season and did not return due to "personal reasons." There was a ton a of speculation as to why he made the decision, but Drouin had never spoken out on the reasons himself. In a teaser clip for the interview, which is in French, Drouin added some insight.

He told Chantal Machabee of RDS that there were times he would go three consecutive nights without sleeping and then, in some cases, have to play back-to-back games. In the clip, he insisted that he never lost his passion for hockey and spent time watching games, sometimes six a night, before taking time off. Ultimately, he said he took time off to put his life in order and find a healthier pace, adding what he was doing just wasn't viable any longer.

In a brief clip released by TVA Sports, Drouin told Renaud Lavoie he has suffered from both anxiety and insomnia.

Drouin is attending training camp with the Montreal Canadiens and is expected to start the season with the team. We should know more about his reasons for his time away when the interviews air Monday night. The sit-down with RDS will be broadcast at 7:30 Quebec time, while TVA will air its interview at 8 PM.
