The Toronto Maple Leafs will enter 2021-22 with a lot to prove after a disappointing 2020-21 campaign, but after a very busy offseason, the team already has its first win of the season, despite having yet to play a game.

On Thursday, while appearing as a guest on the Bob McCown Podcast, Leafs GM Kyle Dubas confirmed that that by the time the season gets under way, the entire team will be fully vaccinated.

With this decision, the Leafs, who happen to share a division with the two Florida-based teams, will effectively be doing their part to protect themselves and their peers as we continue to try to navigate our way through an almost two-year long global pandemic.

Earlier this offseason, it had been announced that neither the Tampa Bay Lightning nor the Florida Panthers will not be able to request proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test from fans who wish to attend games due to legislation that had passed that prevents establishments from being able to filter out unvaccinated clientele, meaning that there is a higher probability of the virus spreading while in those environments.

It will be interesting to see if more teams follow suit and similar announcements surface from other markets around the NHL of teams entering the season fully vaccinated.
