A very familiar face to Canadian hockey fans is fighting a medical battle at the moment. Darren Dutchyshen, who's been with TSN for more than 25 years, eventually becoming a regular host of SportsCentre, has announced he's battling cancer.

"I'm off SportsCentre for a bit," said Dutchyshen. "I have been diagnosed with cancer. I'm getting some incredible treatment with some amazing doctors and can't wait to return."

Dutchyshen, 54, joined TSN in 1995 as a host of the weekend editions of SportsDesk and the network's coverage of the Canadian Football League. He also hosted TSN's primetime coverage of the Olympic games in 2010 and 2012. Dutchyshen currently hosts the evening edition of SportsCentre, alongside co-host Jennifer Hedger.

All the best to "Dutchy" during his battle and we hope to see him back on SportsCentre bringing us hockey highlights and news as soon as he is able.
