Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price will need some time to recover after going under the knife on Friday. According to the Montreal Canadiens, Price, who was instrumental in the Habs unexpected run to the Stanley Cup final this past season, had a procedure done on his knee.

The Canadiens say Price will need 10 to 12 weeks to recover from the surgery, so he'll be ready to go at the start of the season on October 12th.

"The operation was performed in New York at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) by Dr. Robert Marx, after consultation with his colleague Dr. Bryan Kelly, regarding hip and knee injuries. The hip injury will not require surgery," said the organization in a release.

When Price decided to waive his no movement clause to expose himself to Seattle in the expansion draft, there were rumours that he was injured and could miss a large portion of next season. That turned out to not be the case. Price, if course, was not selected by the Kraken. GM Ron Francis decided to go with defenceman Cale Fleury from the Habs instead.
