According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the Carolina Hurricanes have traded goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic to the Detroit Red Wings. In exchange, the Hurricanes will receive a third round pick, and goaltender Jonathan Bernier per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Nedeljkovic had a very strong rookie campaign with the Hurricanes. The Parma, Ohio native played in 23 games and had a record of 15-5-3 with a 1.90 G.A.A., a .932 save percentage, and three shutouts. He has already agreed to a new contract with the Red Wings worth $3 million per season for two years.

The Hurricanes main return in the trade, Jonathan Bernier, is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 28th along with their other two goaltenders Petr Mrazek and James Riemer.
