The New Jersey Devils are reportedly looking to move on from defenceman P.K. Subban. According to Andy Strickland of Bally Sports Midwest, the Devils are trying to trade the 32-year-old.

The Toronto, Ontario native has one year left on his contract, and while his cap hit is fairly high at $9 million, his base salary for the season is only $2 million. Before the season begins, Subban is set to get a $6 million bonus, so the Devils would more than likely want to move him before that day comes.

New Jersey left Subban unprotected ahead of Wednesday's Expansion Draft, and it's unclear if Seattle Kraken general manager Ron Francis is even considering selecting the former Norris Trophy winner. If the Devils really want Seattle to take Subban and his cap hit off their hands, they could work out a side deal. A potential side deal could include the Devils giving a draft pick or two to the Kraken for them to select Subban on Wednesday night.

Subban played in 44 games this season for the Devils where he recorded 19 points (5 G, 14 A), 26 penalty minutes, and was a -16.
