The Chicago Blackhawks have traded former Hart Trophy winner Taylor Hall in a three-team trade today.

The former first overall pick has been a member of the Chicago Blackhawks for the past two years, aiding in the mentorship of young phenom Connor Bedard.

Unfortunately, his time in Chicago has not gone to plan, with a knee injury ending his year last season, and a healthy scratch derailing this season.

Hall was unexpectedly healthy scratched minutes ahead of tonight's game between the Blackhawks and the Tampa Bay Lightning; the real reason for such, a trade.

Hall has now been traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, in a reported three-team deal.

Having scored 39 goals in the 2017-18 season with the New Jersey Devils, Hall won the Hart Trophy as league MVP, and has remained a consistent producer since.

We will see if he can find his game at a higher level in Carolina, where he'll be surrounded by a much stronger surrounding cast.

Top NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has now confirmed that Hall will be going to the Carolina Hurricanes.

In more shocking turns of events, the three-team deal will include superstar Mikko Rantanen of the Colorado Avalanche, marking one of the biggest trades this league has seen in decades.

The Blackhawks will receive a third round pick in exchange for Hall.
