Filip Chytil has shown potential for the Rangers, but after constant injuries, he's opened up on the mental toll it has taken on him.

This season has been a struggle for the New York Rangers, but over the past few years, one player in particular has dealt with major issues, as Filip Chytil has constantly missed games with injuries.

Unfortunately, that injury bug hasn't gone away in 2024/25, as the 25-year old has missed nine games thus far, and after his recent return against the Colorado Avalanche, he opened up on how the injuries have effected him.

«It's frustrating because I don't show for a full season yet what I'm capable of and every time I have these stretches where I play great and then I get hurt, I have to go from zero again. Mentally now I've been through that many times, so I know it's not going to be easy. I need to work through that and find that game as soon as possible because I know what I can do and I know how much I can help this team.»

While it's a challenge physically, the mental toll it takes on him has been a struggle too, as he addressed how hard it is to come back after injuries, especially when it robs him of fantastic form.

«Mentally I can handle it better. It's always harder to come back when you were producing and scoring goals. You know mentally it's going to be hard, but you gotta find that flow that you have all the time. It's very challenging for myself.»

During the one season he's played in 70 or more games in his career, Chytil tallied an impressive 45 points back in 2022/23, but unfortunately he was limited to just 10 goals a season ago, making it hard to truly address his future as a Ranger.

Ultimately though, Chytil has shown enough to stay in the Rangers lineup, and the hope is that he can stay injury free and finally put it all together, as he has the makings of a fantastic middle-six forward in the NHL if he can just stay on the ice and string together consistent performances.
