The New York Rangers are looking to find a spark with some big trades, and now it appears that Ryan Lindgren may be the next player on his way out.

With a 3-11-0 record in their last 14 games, the New York Rangers have gone from looking like Stanley Cup contenders to struggling to stay in the race for the post-season in 2024/25.

On top of that, the team have now moved both Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko, but it appears they may not be done, as Dan Rosen of NHL.com has speculated that 26-year old defenseman Ryan Lindgren could be traded in the near future.

«He's been a warrior, but Lindgren has a lot of miles, bumps and bruises on him. He's not mobile. He's not quick. Adam Fox needs a defense partner that can be a safety net for him, which Lindgren has been for years. But Fox needs a defense partner with some more life in his legs than Lindgren has left.»

Despite being just 26, Lindgren has battled through plenty of bumps and bruises throughout his NHL career, and with his play style already being too slow for his partner Adam Fox, the Rangers may be looking to create a much more electric line with No. 23.

This speculation comes just days after Lindgren called out his teammates following their loss to the LA Kings, something that fans certainly didn't react very well too.

Lindgren will hit free agency in the summer, and with a very palatable $4.5 million cap hit in 2024/25, it's likely that a team out there could take him on for an additional asset to give the Rangers more salary cap space to go after a big name.

Given how his play has fallen off however, it's unlikely that Drury could get a major asset back for him, so expect to see talks for Lindgren heat up as New York's mass changes continue.
