Elliotte Friedman announced today that the Anaheim Ducks will be trading 991-game veteran Cam Fowler to the St. Louis Blues.

After significant trade rumours for the last few months, with the relationship between the Anaheim Ducks and Cam Fowler souring, a move is in the making, and he will be headed to the St. Louis Blues.

With 991 NHL games player, all of them in Anaheim, Fowler is a legend for the franchise, having represented the team at the NHL All-Star Game. He will not be able to play his 1000th NHL game with the Ducks however, as he will be a member of the St. Louis Blues.

Fowler was nearly traded earlier this week in the Jacob Trouba trade with the New York Rangers, but it fell through due to the Rangers not wanting to take on more salary.

This will solve some of the logjam on left defense for the Ducks, who have had to scratch young star Pavel Mintyukov to keep Fowler in the lineup.

At 32-years-old, Fowler is not the player he once was, but is still known for having one of the most accurate and dangerous stretch passes in the NHL.

On a blueline already featuring Colton Parayko, Justin Faulk, and Torey Krug (who is not in the lineup to be fair), all three of whom are also in their 30s, and also all make $6.5 million annually, Cam Fowler is not an archetype unfamiliar to the organization.

Elliotte Friedman has confirmed the trade details; Cam Fowler and a fourth round pick have been traded to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a second round pick and a minor league prospect.

The Ducks will equally retain $2.5 million annually off Fowler's contract for the next two years.
