New York Rangers Forced to Backtrack Trade Talks as Locker Room Tension Rise

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman gave us a major update today on the trade rumors surrounding Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider.

Things have not exactly gone the way we expected them to go for the Rangers so far this season.

Through 23 games, the team has a mediocre record of 13-9-1, good for 4th place in the Metro division, and six points behind the Hurricanes for 3rd.

That is quite gap this early in the season. Their struggles have lead to rumors surrounding both their captain and one of their longest tenured forwards.

That forward would be Chris Kreider of course. Today, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman commented on this exact situation.

Many Rangers fans are not happy with their captain as he appears to be abandoning his team.

It seems like he no longer cares what happens in any particular game, which is not very captain like.

That being said, Friedman revealed that the Rangers have started to tamper things down when it comes to trade discussions.

It seems as though the team is going to wait and see how things play out for the time being before making a major move that they might later regret.

That being said, there probably won't be many people that are surprised if both Trouba and Kreider come up again when the trade deadline roles around.

Assuming the Rangers are in a playoff spot though, trading either of them would have to mean a player of equal of better value is coming back.

Such a trade could prove to be very difficult, but we will just have to see what happens.
