The Boston Bruins have dominated the regular season in the past few years, and now as they sit dead last after a month, Jim Montgomery maintains confidence.

After an off-season in which they made several big signings, many expected the Boston Bruins to come into the 2024/25 season red-hot, but unfortunately for them, it just hasn't happened yet. On the back of tallying 244 combined points between the last two seasons, this team has dominated the regular season, but in the playoffs they've struggled to replicate that success, winning just one first-round series in the last two years.

So perhaps a regular season that's less dominant could be a good thing? It's unclear how that logic works, but that was the point of Head Coach Jim Montgomery's latest message to the fans at a press conference.

«We had a lot of success the last two years,» Montgomery said. «We were first place in the league at Thanksgiving the last two years. We never achieved anything we wanted to. Right now, we're not happy. Nobody's happy with what's going on, but we will get out of it, and we will be better, and, hopefully, it creates a better result come playoff time.»

Sure, the Bruins would like to experience much more success in the regular season than they have thus far, as they sit last in the Atlantic at 4-6-1 through 11 games, and while they're upset, they clearly aren't panicking just yet. With Jeremy Swayman in net and a star studded group led by David Pastrnak, there's still immense confidence that this team can turn around a slow start in the coming months. Unfortunately for the Bruins the underlying numbers aren't good, as they rank in the bottom third of the league in goals scored and goals against, and with their young names not starring yet, there's question marks over how good they can be in 2024/25.

However, Montgomery remains positive that this team will turn it around at some point, so don't expect them to be last in the Atlantic Division for much longer if they can get healthy and keep everyone on the ice.
