For years now, Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has been one of the most hated players in the NHL, and on Thursday night he showed exactly why as he took a run at Montreal's Kaiden Guhle. Unsurprisingly, this wasn't taken very well by his teammates, and as soon as that play happens, veteran Josh Anderson was all over him.

While Wilson can usually handle himself in a fight, he couldn't have been more outmatched in this one, and after some patience, Anderson absolutely obliterated him in a fight.

This would lead to a five-minute fighting major for Anderson, and ultimately a game misconduct, but given the unnecessary actions of Wilson, it's safe to say that it was well-deserved. Canadiens fans on social media were absolutely loving it too, and given the way Wilson has behaved over the years, all neutral fans would absolutely love seeing this too.
It's unclear why Wilson targeted Guhle during the play, as there seemingly isn't any history between the two, but he did it and he ultimately paid the price. This may be what Wilson wanted however, as his entire role with the Capitals is to get under the skin of the opponent, but in such a blatant way, he got what he deserved for the dirty play on the ice.
Despite this huge moment, the Canadiens would go on to lose this game 6-3, dropping them to 4-6-1 in their first 11 games of the season, and with Wilson adding a goal and an assist on the night, it's safe to say that he ultimately had the last laugh.
