Jeremy Swayman's contract saga is set to go into the regular season, but now, his latest comments suggest he doesn't want to leave Boston.

The past few weeks have been full of drama and unease around Boston Bruins camp, with the team and goaltender Jeremy Swayman reportedly as much as $1 million per season apart in contract negotiations. While trade speculation has begun, the team have continued to make it clear that they want Swayman around long term, and now comments from the goaltender have emerged that have raised many eyebrows.
According to Swayman himself in the new Amazon show Faceoff: Inside the NHL, he has every intention of being a Boston Bruin for a long time, at least he did during the Bruins six-game series loss to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers.
"I mean, I don't want it to end," he said on the show. "[This] could be the last time I wear a Bruins jersey. I know I'm going to do everything in my power to be a Bruin for a long time. As a kid growing up in Alaska, this was in my wildest f---ing dreams. I never want it to end. I'm just so grateful that the sun's going to rise tomorrow and there's another opportunity to get better.

"Whatever I can do to help this team win. I know everything else will take care of itself."

Those comments certainly sounded good at the time, but now several months later, it appears as though Swayman is doing everything he can to avoid signing with the team, as he has his number and reportedly isn't budging too far from it. That doesn't mean a deal won't get done however, as the 25-year old has spent his entire career thus far with the Bruins, and after the departure of Linus Ullmark, he's now the clear cut No. 1.
With the regular season just days away, he still doesn't have a contract and won't be ready for the season to begin even if a deal does get signed, so now, the story becomes how long it will take to get a deal done in one of the most intriguing stories thus far in the NHL.
