The NHL's waiver wire has seen many players over the past few days, and now, a former first-round pick is among 17 players now up for grabs.

Over the last week, over 100 players have been processed through waivers, and while just one standout name has been claimed (Jiri Patera by the Boston Bruins), the names continue coming. On Thursday, another 17 players have been added to waivers by the Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets, Florida Panthers, Seattle Kraken, Utah Hockey Club, Nashville Predators and Toronto Maple Leafs.

While this list has seen an increase in quality, with Axel Jonsson-Fjallby and Nick Abruzzese both likely candidates to be claimed, the biggest name of all is former first-round draft pick Jarred Tinordi.

The former Chicago Blackhawks blue liner was signed by the Calgary Flames this off-season, and while he was expected to compete for a roster spot in training camp, it appears he didn't quite make it as he now finds himself on waivers. On top of that we see several quality players like Abruzzese, Jonsson-Fjallby and Tobias Bjornfot among others who could potentially become candidates to be claimed.

NHL teams now have just four days to become salary cap compliant, and with the regular season starting for most teams around that time, waivers will be hot for the next few days as teams make final cuts, and with many big decisions to make, the name should become bigger and more shocking as the season draws near. For now though, no one was claimed from yesterday's group, but with several candidates added on Thursday, expect at least one claim when tomorrow's waiver announcements are revealed.
