Ryan Reaves shares his hilarious baby name idea for Simon Benoit

Simon Benoit recently welcomed his first child into the world, and unsurprisingly, Ryan Reaves has an incredible name for the baby girl.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a team full of great character, but no one exemplifies that more than veteran forward Ryan Reaves. That was on full display recently with a story from David Alter, who revealed that defenseman Simon Benoit is yet to name his baby daughter that was born in the last week.

Now, he's taking suggestions from his teammates, and in a shock to absolutely no one, Reaves has one of the wildest suggestions we've ever seen.

According to Alter, Reaves' vote was for 'Cashew', given that Benoit calls his girlfriend peanut, with Reaves labelling them as the Nut Family if they go down this route. It's safe to say that it's a very unorthodox name, but the fans in the comments are in full support of Reaves.

While Reaves hasn't exactly performed on the ice for this team yet, it's clear to see that he's becoming a leader in the locker room, and with his personality, the hope is that it will rub off on the rest of the team. It's unclear however how seriously Benoit is taking the suggestion from Reaves, but if he did ultimately decide to name his daughter Cashew (he won't), it would be an amazing story.

For now however, it's likely he'll choose something more traditional as the 2024/25 season approaches, and while Reaves would love to see his suggestion win out, it's more likely that he would love to win a Stanley Cup in Toronto as a bigger celebration with Benoit and his teammates.
