The Boston Bruins were expected to lock up Jeremy Swayman on a long-term deal this off-season, but now, we are weeks away and they are a long way apart.

This off-season has been an interesting one in Boston, as the team moved goaltender Linus Ullmark for a very underwhelming return, before adding a 1C in Elias Lindholm and a difference maker on the blue line in Nikita Zadorov. However, the biggest story has been the contract dispute of Jeremy Swayman, which seemingly isn't coming to an end anytime soon.
This past week, Ryan Whitney revealed on the Spittin Chiclets podcast that the team's latest offer to Swayman came in at four-years, $6.2 AAV, and simply put, that's quite a disrespectful offer for one of the NHL's most promising and talented goaltenders.
Now, Elliotte Friedman has addressed the situation, as he didn't dispute the report from Whitney, but instead doubled down, revealing that Swayman is looking for $10 million AAV, or at least the Charlie McAvoy contract, which came in at eight-years, $9.5 million annually.
No matter which one he's asking for, that means the Bruins are four years light on their contract offer, and at the very least are $3.3 million apart on annual value with Swayman. At this point, it's unclear if there's an end in sight, but with the regular season set to begin in just over a month, the hope is that they can come to an agreement soon and get their 25-year old star back in net, because they desperately need him after moving Ullmark.
