The Boston Bruins arguably took the best name in the 2022 NHL draft by selecting goaltender Reid Dyck. He has now joined the Utah Hockey Club.

Reid Dyck was among the most promising goaltenders in the 2022 class, and was ultimately selected 183rd overall by the Boston Bruins.
The 6 foot 4 20 year old was a high quality starter for the Swift Current Broncos last season, but somehow never came to terms on a contract with the Boston Bruins. Despite losing 2023 Vezina trophy winner Linus Ullmark in a trade with the Ottawa Senators this summer, and the team's third stringer being unproven Brandon Bussi, the team ultimately chose to let one of their most promising netminding prospects go. Doing this when Jeremy Swayman is not yet signed to an extension is certainly risky.
We now know that Reid Dyck has chased down a new opportunity, and is skating with the Utah Hockey Club at training camp. The Utah Hockey Club, under the ownership of Ryan Smith and the Smith Entertainment Group, have taken over the Arizona Coyotes team and franchise and relocated them to the budding metropolis of Salt Lake City.
It appears the Boston Bruins have chosen to roll with prospect Michael Di Pietro in favour of Dyck. Whether or not this was a good decision is yet to be known.
